OpenBSD 4.4 released

Nov 1, 2008.

We are pleased to announce the official release of OpenBSD 4.4. This is our 24th release on CD-ROM (and 25th via FTP).  We remain proud of OpenBSD’s record of more than ten years with only two remote
holes in the default install.

One of the good thing about OpenBSD is that its release schedule is fixed: every May and November, unlike FreeBSD which I’m still waiting for its 7.1 that’s supposed to be released in October.

WordPress trunk edition

Latest beta

Latest beta Dashboard

I got bored and decided to check out latest beta (or in svn term – trunk) of WordPress. The new (dashboard) interface looks good but slow. Haven’t checked with Google Chrome or Opera to see if Firefox is the problem’s source (slow JavaScript?).

Using publishing from add new post rather awkward with it forcing me to set publish date first… O_o

Overall interface also doesn’t seem to be polished yet. I will try installing it locally at home sometime tomorrow though as it’s not really funny trying out things using slow connection.

Also, lighttpd kinda sucks. Need to upgrade to 1.5 ASAP. Or migrate to nginx.

Site update: 2.10

Updated site… mainly style changes and some structure updated (ie removing most sidebar contents on posts/pages, search now on footer, etc). Also… new header. Now version 3 😮

Version explanation:

  • 2 means second year
  • 10 means October update

CSS Skill: +1

Full image is at moe.imouto which is currently down. 🙁

Journey to HTML 4.01 Strict (Take 1)

I win (?)

I win (?)

After quick Google search, I found that there’s an easy way to replace all end tag for XHTML output (/>) to standard HTML ones (simply >). Then I do some modification on base Tarski templates… bawww… I got a valid HTML 4.01 Strict WordPress blog.

What’s involved in this stupidity attempt?

  • Including replacer to header file
  • Separating fieldset since HTML hates div in fieldset
  • Adding bunch of <legend>s (HTML hates <label> without <legend>)

Then… valid HTML 4.01 Strict GET (for what I can check, that is).

Update: patch v2 for episode 1 available. Just extract to same folder with the v1 file (make sure the file name is [aether] Time of Eve - 01 [66E4BA62].mkv) then run toe01-patch-v2.bat (Windows) or use your system’s xdelta (patch file is toe01-patch-v2.vcdiff) if you’re not using Windows as I don’t provide it for other platforms.
