MyAnimeList Update
On Toradora!
Currently halfway reading its 2nd volume (novel). And I must say…
“Anyone that said she’s combination of Shana and Louise must have their head’s screws loose.” </exaggeration>
I mean, how in the hell, she (Taiga) have almost no resemblance with Shana and have most of Louise’s trait.
Like:
- Calling her (destined-to-be) boyfriend ‘dog’
- Lazy
- Classy
- Dangerous
- Tsun2 90% of time
- Crybaby
- A (or S) -class zettai ryouiki
- Etc etc.
Its anime’s character design looks fine to me btw. Dunno why some people complain about it.
Hey it’s ended
Manga read: Saki
o_o)b
I missed ch0’s release. Chapter 1 has just released today.
Tsch. It’s freakin same chapter. 11mb wasted 😡
Oh well, it’s a good manga anyway :]
[ Go get nao ]
I just realized…
…that Diablo II patch 1.12a added capability running the game without the need of CD.
From the changelog:
– If all required Diablo 2 ‘.MPQ’ files are installed on the hard drive, the game will no longer require the CD to play.
For users that originally performed a ‘Full Installation’ and wish to run without the CD, all ‘.MPQ’ files should be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory. Most users will only need to copy D2Music.mpq from the Diablo 2 Play CD and/or D2xMusic.mpq from the Lord of Destruction CD. Mac users will need to copy these music files and rename them to ‘Diablo II Music’ and ‘Diablo II Expansion Music’ respectively.
Anyone who did not perform a ‘Full Installation’ will need to re-install from CD again to ultimately play without the CD. In this case, a ‘Full Installation’ is required, followed by file copy step noted above.
Which is a good thing. Especially because it basically remove the CD protection. 😛

Lulz of the day
It’ll be ended already??
Wtf? It seems kinda abrupt… o_o
Like, 1 episode to solve everything. (!)
Totally in contrast with Sky Girls where there’s even an extra episode… Well, Sky Girls is 26 episode, but still. Whatever, lol.
If you liked the series (well, I do) and have money to spare (I don’t. Someone give me money, please? 😀 ), please buy the DVDs when they come out to show your support… And get the series in QUALITY (the BOST ones sucks. And DVD ones should be better). It’ll be released monthly starting from next month (till February, in total 6 volumes).
Calculating bitrate
Use some logic please?
kbps = kilobit(s) per second
1 kilobit = 1000 bits
1 byte = 8 bits
1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes
1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes
1 hour = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds
Say you want to encode a 25 minutes video at 175 MB,
175 megabytes in 25 minutes…
179200 kilobytes in 1500 seconds…
119.467 kilobytes for every seconds… (aka KB/s)
955.733 kilobits per second… for video, audio, overheads, etc.
Say the audio is about 128 kbps
Then the video = 955.733 – 128 – extras = 827.733 – extras = about 800 kbps.
Why someone need help calculating it, is beyond me.

Google Chrome!
It was released. I’m currently trying it out and looks pretty good so far. The fact that it supports gears is also nice.
Actually, a few weeks ago, I prayed that someone will make a lightweight yet full-featured browser based on WebKit.
And somehow it actually becomes a reality…. o_O
I was liek, LULZ.
Here are short list of what need to be fixed, from my short usage experience:
- shift-enter and ctrl-shift-enter for .net and .org*
- autofill
- a title bar?
*its functionality can be considered replaced by “something”… try it and you’ll understand what I meant. 😛

So I actually downloaded Code Geass R2 21… and then forgot to actually copy it to my portable drive.

Reason to use Vista
For me, it’s mainly this:
Basically, on programs that support Vista, its open/save dialog box will have this freakingly useful feature: integrated search. It’s also useful on Explorer.
Some programs still have to be fixed to work better with Vista though. Notably Media Player Classic, OpenVPN, meGUI, and some more.
Generic Danbooru INSTALL documentation
After completing this (so-called) guide, I found that it’s too long and too FreeBSD-specifics.
So I decided to write a more generic documentation. This page is generalization from previous guide. And this article is:
- Much more informative than current INSTALL
- Translated version of INSTALL.debian (with exception for mongrel etc)
- Simplified edition of my previous guide
- Much like older version of INSTALL which was rather informative but for some reason get extra-simplified to the degree not informative at all (except for pointing to INSTALL.debian)
This documentation assumes you will be using Unicorn and nginx.
Installing Danbooru on FreeBSD 7.0
Warning: this post is kind of outdated. Even though there’s no problem using it I don’t recommend following this any more.
Danbooru is basically a web gallery software with its main advantage in its advanced tagging system.
However, it’s written in one of modern programming language (and not specifically designed for web) Ruby, with bunch of additional “Gems” and using not-so-commonly-used PostgreSQL. Add the fact that it’s using its own image resizing library, and you’ll get a web software that’s “not intended to be installed by someone with weak heart.” (quoting from its old INSTALL page)
Fret not! In this article I’ll explain installation of Danbooru, esp. on FreeBSD, and be as detailed as possible.
And from scratch.
FreeBSD and OpenBSD: comparison (I)
This comparison is not really fair from my POV since I only fully use and manage FreeBSD for like several months with its latest version only 2 weeks or so when I have used OpenBSD for at least one year.
I’ll make several articles (or babbling) comparing between them. Today, I’ll compare them in aspect of Installation.
Finished reading: Bitter Virgin (manga)
When I saw the scanlation of it has finished several days ago at certain manga reading site, I remembered that I copied some of the chapters months ago.
Went reading it… and… finished in a blink (well, not really since I have to download manually from chapter 22).
So… it was good. Drama. Etc.
Not your usual love-drama though. As it involves something that’s not really common (in this type of manga, at least) which is, pregnancy. Sum tragic story about pregnancy. Or something.
The good (?) thing is, this manga doesn’t contain any fanservice which is pretty normal considering this is a shoujo manga 😛
It might even get localization here… probably. I’ll sure to buy it if actually released here.
Or it is already released…? O_O I don’t think it’s already released here though.
Secure password, version 2
There’s this link for tutorial how to create secure and easy to remember passwords.
More or less it’s the same as the one I posted months ago, just now with character-to-symbol replacement method. Reducing the need to create unnecessary long sentence to get symbols etc.

Hatsukoi Limited Anime Announced
From creator of Ichigo 100%, her latest manga series, Hatsukoi Limited, has been decided for its anime series.
From what I can remember when reading its first few chapters (months ago), there are, like, at least five different stories about five (going to be) couple that is somehow related with each other… Or something like that. Lol.

Lulz of the day
My anime of choice this season
o.o
For some reason there are 5 series this season I watched as soon I get the file. Here they are:
- Strike Witches
- Koihime Musou
- Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiji Jikenbo
- Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
- Zero no Tsukaima – Princess no Rondo
They are chosen because… it’s for some reason subbed at decent pace. Well, Strike Witches is kinda special since it’s a same-day-subbed series…
